Kristin speaks with Dr. Kevin Payne, a Social Psychologist, Author and Podcast Host of Your Life Lived Well, about the importance of addressing how we navigate life in the midst of chronic pain or illness. Dr. Payne explains how someone living with a chronic illness and their lived ones need to focus on the non-medical support that is need by addressing the cognitive, emotional, social and environment areas of life. What it comes down to is clear and honest conversation, being grateful, finding ways to do things we enjoy doing even if it looks different and being able to ask for help and support.

One of the take aways is that those living with chronic illness and their loved ones need to reframe and renegotiate their what each person needs, and how that looks. Dr. Payne also shares his journey of living with MS and going through hard, dark times and what helped him step through those day. He also shares how doing things that begin to stretch us and having relationships and experiences can improve our outlook, satisfaction and life and how well we feel.

This is a great episode if you or someon you know has a chronic illness, chronic pain, diagnosis, or constantly high aniexty or stress but it is also a good episode about how we can communication better in our relationships, and how we can live a life that is full of experiences and gratitude instead of regrets when we look back on our life.
