On today’s solo episode Kristin talks about how we can use a few simple rules and ideas to focus on doing the 1 main thing that will help us achieve our goal or the results we want sooner and how pairing down our to-do list to the top action we can take will result in more productivity and get projects done sooner and with less effort.

Kristin talks about a concept discussed in the book Effortless by Greg McKeown called Minimum Viable Actions and using Microbursts of effort to identify the first step in a project and get it done and how this can help you move from planning, thinking about the entire project and get moving. It also helps you eliminate the the other steps that don’t need to be done right now to clear your path for progress.

Another helpful Rule Kristin shares is Pareto’s Law or Rule or the 80/20 rule and how we can use that concept to narrow down our main thing, our main goal and the main action we can take today and the next. Kristin shares a few ideas from the book The One Thing by Gary Keller about focusing on the first domino which can be the smallest because if you get the first one going it will knock down the next one and the next and each consecutive domino (goal) can knock down one 50% bigger than the one before it- it’s a fascinating concept you can apply to your work or personal life to reach your results sooner and with less busyness.
