In the midst of Thanksgiving and now as we set our sights on the coming Christmas Holiday- the birth of baby Jesus – we can get overbooked, overwhelmed and even feel exhausted with our packed schedules and our list of gifts to buy and things to do- let’s remember to seek God even more during this time so we can truly experience the miracle of Jesus’ birth and the true gift of the season.

The only way we fill that yearning, that longing in our hearts is to continually to seek God- so this season let’s make sure we leave lots of room for time with God.

We’ve all been through hard things. And we all know friends or family who have experienced loss, grief, a diagnosis, or difficult time. The question is how do we show up for other people during those times? Sometimes it’s hard to know how to show up for others when they are going through the trenches so we might say- let me know what I can do to help. But often the person doesn’t tell us what we can do because they are just trying to get through the day, through the hard season.

What if instead we just showed up. What if instead we just did something. What if instead we took action to show them we care, that they are loved, that we are there beside them. How would that change how they felt in that hard season? It would remind them that we are with them, for them and that someone is caring for them, and sees their need.

My call for each of us is to step through the uncertainty, the awkward silence and show up on their doorstep or phone with our hands full of love, and kindness and maybe full of food or thoughtful things.
